A Party, Stick Figures and Grounded Forever...A Tale of Two Sisters...

When I was in the 8th grade we moved from my hometown of Springfield, Missouri to this itty bitty town called Lebanon, MO. It was around 45 minutes away from the only life that I had ever known...the only life that I truly wanted to know if I'm going to be totally honest...

8th grade was hard enough. Teenager. Hormones. Attitude. Puberty. Moving.

In my mind this was the worst possible life scenario. I wasn't shy, but I was pretty quiet until I knew you and trusted you.

Anyhow. So there we were. My sister and me. She was in the 7th grade, I was in the 8th grade. You could have said we would have done anything for friends, so we did what we assumed any other junior high student would have done in our situation: we planned the party of the decade.

My Dad & Mom were supposed to go to a flower shop opening for a few hours. And us? We were supposed to be babysitting our two brothers.

We had it all figured out. Put the boys in their room upstairs complete w/video games and snacks. Have our party. And clean up before the parentals were to arrive home. {Okay, stop laughing. We were idiots.}

We made fliers. Complete with stick figures drinking peach schnapps{for the record? we did not drink. i'm guessing that it was "cool" to say you drank when you were 12 and 13 years old...}. We bought food--we managed to spend all of our lunch money at the grocery store across the street. We filled up three grocery carts with food, sodas, etc. We then filled our "friend's" mom's car with our so called party food.

We passed out the fliers at school to anyone and everyone who would take one. The cute guys talked to us. The popular kids let us sit at their table. We felt like we were on top of the world.

Oh--and our friend? Gave as many as she could to her high school brother to pass out to his friends. We were geniuses I tell you. Complete and total geniuses...

We were stoked. We thought to ourselves, now this? Is it. We are popular. We will be friends with everyone.

That is until someone from the school staff called our Mom. Foiled our plan. Got us grounded forever {you think I'm exaggerating. I'm not. In fact I'm probably still grounded...}. We had to tell everyone the party was off. It was no bueno. Finished.

Talk about the embarrassment of a teenager's lifetime. Not only did we have to tell everyone there was no party...but we were grounded. Couldn't.do.a.damn.thing. No tv. No phone. No plans. And most importantly? We had no friends. No boyfriends. It was horrible. Every teen girls' worst nitemare.

Anyway...I still remember muffling my laughter as my Dad sat out on our front porch with a bb gun...haha! Teens were showing up in their cars...doing a small town drive by to see if the party was still going on. It was seriously border line hysterical.

So, there you have it. One of the dumber things THE dumbest stunt of my teenage life that I now crack up about.

{And I may still roll my eyes with my sister when reminded and made fun of by our parents....}

So what's the dumbest thing that you did when you were a teenager? I want to hear your dirt and laugh until I cry...so make it good, friends. Make it good.

I was pretty good in jr. high/high school. But college, hmmmm...

I went out BY MYSELF with 3 guys one time just because they called my 4-digit room number because it spelled FART. Classy huh? No and also? Definitely DUMB. Thank God they were nice guys...

Oh my god! That cracks me up. The logic one has when a young teenager! I'm sure I did lots and lots of stupid things - although I can't specifically remember. Maybe I'll be back later to share something!

holy cow...it is about time i am able to comment!

okay...that story was super hilarious...i would have totally been your friend in that situation. everyone needs a good friend to get through a time like that.

honestly..i was a really good kid, involved in a lot of athletics. so i tried not to test my parents to much. but one story comes to mind when i was 15 and i had my first boyfriend. i was in 10th grade and he was a senior at a private school. i thought i was so cool. he came over to my house and we told my mom we were going for a walk. we went to this hill down from my house and had our first kiss and in the background i hear my mom yelling my name to come home! i was so embarressed. i guess that is what you get for being the baby and being a jock nerd!

This story was just too funny!! I did plenty of stupid things as a teenager...other than picking up a hitchiker, I think the stupidest thing I ever did was not leaving a certain party when the cops called and said they were on their way. I should've just run home, but there was this guy there that I really liked and he was staying...blah..blah..blah! Almost got arrested!!

my friend would sleep over and we would put cabbage patch kids in the bed because their hair looked so much like ours. I mean doesn't everyone have yarn hair? Then we would sneak out and got and talk to boys..

That is a funny story! I did waaaaay too many stupid things as a teenager. My proof was a baby at 16. I thank God everyday that I have boys b/c I would never get any sleep if I had a teenage daughter. I would be scared she would turn out like me!

Ahhh ... That wasn't so bad, 'Chelle! Now. I could tell you a story or two about things your mama and daddy did when they were teenagers. But I'll leave it to them to confess their escapades ... ROTFL!

HAHAHA! omg! that was completely hysterical! I have so many stupid stories from when I was a teenager, lets just say my parents knew about the first time I got wasted. I got so sick that my boyfriend at the time got scared and called his friends, who called their "friend," who was a "friend" or his parents who then of course, called MY parents....AHHH! I had to be escorted home. AHHHH! I just don't even want to relive the embarrassment in my memory! hahaha

HAHA! I think you are actually not grounded anymore - pretty sure we were grounded until we turned 30. HAHA! I still have about 7 more months.

Stupidest things I did:
1. That kick ass party that we tried to throw
2. Getting really drunk and then lying about not drinking, passing out in the front yard, and Mom and Dad taking me to the hospital only to find out I was totally trashed.
3. Crashing my car and then leaving it in the entryway to that gas station and not going home until the next day because I was scared.

Yeahhhhhhhhh I might actually be grounded until 40. I don't remember. And don't even get me STARTED on mistakes I made in COLLEGE!!! LOL

p.s. Avery is never allowed to read this.
