General Mills Cereal Review and Giveaway

When I was pregant with Madelyn I loved my cereal.  I ate it all of the time.  Not only was it light enough for me to not get sick on, but it was a healthy and fulfilling snack--much better than stuffing myself with unnecessary junk food.

One of my favorite cereal brands is General Mills.  They make one of my favorite cereals EVER--Honey Nut Cheerios.  Yum.  Isabella loves their Trix cereal--that girl would eat it for every meal if I let her!

Just recently they announced that they would be reducing the amount of sugar in their kid targeted cereals to a single digit amount.  That's huge friends.  Remember the day when cereals were seriously soaked in sugars?  Not so anymore.  And General Mills has also taken it upon themselves to increase key nutrients in their cereals. 

We all know how important it is for our children and ourselves to consume breakfast in the morning.  Here are some awesome facts:

*Ready to eat cereal eaters consume less fat and cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters.

*Ready to eat cereals {even the pre-sweetened variety} account for only 5% of sugar in a child's diet.

*Ready to eat cereal is the #1 source of whole grain in a child's diet.

*Frequent cereal eaters tend to have a healthier weight and lower BMI {Body Mass Index} than non-cereal eaters.

*Children that eat breakfast perform better in school.  That has been tested ever since I can remember and it's so true!
