Getting My Body Back After Baby

When I got pregnant with Isabella I weighed 135 lbs ( I'm 5'6"). With Madelyn I was 167 lbs when I found out that I was pregnant and when I got pregnant with Brynlie I was finally down to 155 lbs and had planned on shedding the last 20 lbs while Leo was in Afghanistan. Ha! Instead of losing weight during his deployment I gained it--39 whole pounds of it.

For some of you that may still sound like a lot of weight when I got pregnant with Brynlie, but when I saw the scales tip at over 200 during a couple of other pregnancies? Holy cow, 155 was a dream weight.

Now that I've had Miss Brynlie I am determined more than ever to get my body back one week at a time. There are a few things that I want to point out before I lay out my plan and invite you, my readers, to join this journey with me.

*I'm currently breastfeeding Brynlie. She will get the rare bottle of formula maybe one time a week, but that's it. Otherwise it's 99% of my body's milk that goes into her body and I LOVE it. Breastfeeding is great, but I'm not seeing the pounds simply melt away like so many people hyped it up to be like.

*I realize that to get down to my pre Isabella weight I need to lose 40 pounds. Exactly. I'm looking at my weight loss goals in 5 lb increments. To me telling myself  "5 lbs, Chelle, that's your goal right now" is a lot easier than saying 40 pounds. Ya know?

*I love sweets, but am determined to NOT buy them. If they're not in my home they won't be finished. Easy.

So that is a little background on what I'm up against. I'm breastfeeding, love sweets and have 40 lbs to lose to get to my happy weight. How am I planning on doing this? Here's my battle plan--today was day one and I succeeded in my goals with the exception of me not increasing my water amount and cutting out most of the Diet Coke that I consume.

*For 8 weeks I'll be doing Lindsay Brin's Post Natal Bootcamp 2. It is broken up into 2 week increments which is awesome because Day 1? Kicked my ass.

*Do NOT buy the sweets! I have allowed myself one pack of 100 calorie snacks if I must have something to snack on, but that is one pack at the most a day. I'm trying to increase my water intake and snack on nutrient/vitamin rich fruits and veggies.

*Eating healthier foods/eat out even less than we do now.

Those are my week one goals. I'm planning on working out Mondays-Fridays with weekends off. Wish me luck and if you think that you'll be interested in getting your body back let me know! I would LOVE to do a weekly blog hop so I can have people to cheer on and people to cheer me on. Let me know what you think...

Good luck with losing weight.

My problem is I like food too much. And not the healthy kind.

You can do it Chelle! Everything is okay to have, as long as it is in moderation. Sounds like you have a great workout plan started, good luck!
If you ever need any advice, I am here for you. :)

Good luck to you. I have been using myfitnesspal.com for about 6 weeks now. I'm limiting my calorie intake to 1500 calories a day and it's given me about a 1 lb loss per week. That's not much, and it's slow, but that's the healthiest way to lose weight...and honestly, I like it.

You and I were at similar weights and have similar goals. we need to encourage one another!

ok girl i'm there with you once this baby comes out! I have a trip to hawaii in dec. or jan and this baby has taken my body over... i'm 5'3 and about the same weight right now as before I started the pregnancy that's the joyso f following a GD diet.

suggestion is eating carb and calorie counted meals 6 times a day like me right now being preggo and you'll loose it, my nemesis is going to be bakery goods. I hope i'm not too late to join once this child is out

As far as breastfeeding goes, I found the weight was slower to come off with my second than with my first. Age is a factor in that too...ahem.

One thing to keep in mind is that you need to make sure you are getting enough calories to feed yourself and then Brynlie. Try not to limit yourself, but instead as you have suggested, substitute healthy snacks for junk. Try adding more lean protein in as well, like fish, chicken and eggs.

You can do it! I'll be right there with you (and 50 million other people) right after the first of the year!!

Yay Chelle! Sounds like a great plan and I know you can do it! I wish I was starting with you right now. Maybe I should start with the simplest of things - drinking the water (which for some reason I am craving lately - much more so than my ol' diet coke fix!), and Stop buying the sweets (i.e. cookies) and chips. I'll have to work out the exercise routine a bit later since that will require time!

I LOVE the honesty in this post, btw. Takes a brave, and motivated woman to do it.

Love you!

Good for you! And I'm right there with ya, sister. Ezra is seven months old today, and he's exclusively breastfed, and the weight is SO NOT melting off. But it didn't with Henry, either. It wasn't until I stopped nursing that my body started letting go of the weight. I'm with you, I was at 135 before my first was born. Now, after my second, I need to lose 25 pounds. Yikes. I know we can do it! I need to look into that program you're using. Thank you for this post!!! I needed to hear that I'm not the only one!

I already shared with you about making my dinner during lunch to have time to go to the gym at 5, seriously, this works so well for our family.

So, since I'm busy during lunch, I just grab a protein bar... but one of those yummy chocolate ones. It helps that craving too.

And I can't cut out Diet Coke, it's my treat for having a good day. And it's zero calories, there are far worst 'treats' than this. IMO.

I just singed up for myfitnesspal too, it's cool and should help?

Good luck~
