Nivea #skin2skin Challenge

Nivea is celebrating 100 years of skincare with a great contest featuring Rihanna. Rihanna has been selected as the voice behind the year long celebration and Nivea is making it possible for fans of Nivea skincare and Rihanna to submit a photo showing others their skin2skin moments with someone they love.

It's simple to enter! Simply upload your skin2skin moment onto the Nivea skin2skin Facebook page. Once your photo is uploaded you're eligible to win prize packs containing free samples, concert tickets, Nivea products, coupons and gear.

Contest does have a voting period--one lucky winner will get the chance to meet Rihanna in person and another prize winner will get two tickets to see Rihanna perform live during her European tour! The grand prize winner will be picked based on the amount of votes received.

The One Where I Would Love Your Help...

It seems like forever and a day ago that I have actually sat down to write a post. It has been nothing short of chaotic around my home. Leo is leaving this weekend. Which in reality is totally ironic the day he leaves. That date has so much significance in my heart as well as so many of our hearts.

The emotions that I am feeling right now are surreal. With his parents down here it just feels like they are here visiting and helping us with things that we need done around the house. It doesn't feel like they are here to spend precious moments with their son before he flies off to a country so dangerous to protect the country that he would give his life for.

Anyway, in the title of my post I stated that I need your help. And I do. I really, really do. One of the local photographers here is hosting a Facebook contest. Basically the baby with the most votes get a free photo shoot.

This is both amazing and generous all in one. I love her work--and Leo and I have talked about saving some money to have her do a shoot for us. It's pricey and being a one income military family we don't have a lot of extra cash laying around.

It's SUPER easy to vote. You like her page which is Lisa Campbell Photography. After you are a "liker" of her business you click on like under Madelyn's super cute picture. That is it! The contest runs through the 15th of September before it is over. Votes won't count unless her photo is "liked" on Lisa Campbell Photography, so if you are voting just make sure that you like her picture. This is the photo that I used:

I typically don't enter any of these cute baby photo contests because so many babies are cute and it ends up being who has more friends, etc. But I would love nothing more than to win a session with Lisa. I want to surprise Leo while he is in Afghanistan with pictures of the girls. Could I do it myself? Sure. But she is a professional photographer...which is freaking amazing.

Don't feel like you have to vote...I don't want to "make" anyone do anything that they don't want to do. But if you have one minute to do the steps above, I would love you forever. Forever and ever.

I am sure I'll be posting more this week, but I'm honestly just trying to take in my honey and remember everything about him...it's about to be a long 6 months...

The World's Great BFF...A Contest!

When I am asked about my best friend, the one who would always be there for me no matter what, I actually have to stop for a moment and think.

Being a military family and military veteran I have so many friends that come to mind. Unfortunately none of them live anywhere near me, but that is one main reason that I love social networking. I have reconnected with so many friends--friends who I would have otherwise lost contact with over the years.

Today there are a few people who I consider BFF's. I have so many people in my life, that if I honestly wrote about them all it would take so long--and y'all would be bored.

To tears. So with that said, here's my list of my top three.

Disclaimer--I would add Leo, but I talk about him enough. So just know that I do consider the husband a BFF, but I want to talk about women--amazing and strong women--who have made a tremendous impact on my life. The following women have all had a piece in making me who I am today as a wife, a mother, a friend, a sister.

***Angi***

I think of Angi a lot. I often wish I could call her, hear her voice, laugh with her and just have an honest heart to heart. But sadly Angi is no longer with me. With her family. With us on Earth. She passed away after a brave battle with breast cancer took her away from us all in 2005. The day that I received that news was a day that I'll never forget. It's an earth shattering realization to have to accept that I am no longer able to talk to her. But I have to thank her for everything that she did do for me while we were friends. I'll love her forever--and she'll always have a piece of my heart.

***The Mom & The Sis***

I talk to them practically every single day. They have been so amazing letting me talk away my sadness, my fears, my happiness, my joys and they listen. They're also both hysterical so we're always laughing about something--I heart my family SO much and wish every day that we lived closer. One day...one day I know we'll all live a hell of a lot closer than we do now! My sister and I laugh about when we were growing up how we fought like cats and dogs, yet today I would do anything for her! I love these two and could not imagine life without them in it.

Tree Top Blog Tour!

 With summer being in full effect here in Mississippi I have been trying to think of creative and healthy ideas for the girls. There always seems to be an abundance of ice cream treats thrown at us left and right--which isn't bad on occasion, but I do like to have healthy alternatives that are just as much fun.

One great idea that I tried out for the girls is freezing Tree Top 100% Apple Juice in ice cube trays. You can add these to any drink that your child is drinking and it makes for a yummier version of ice. Especially if we are at the park or outside playing, regular ice seems to water down the drink. My girls LOVE this--especially Isabella! And Madelyn doesn't mind adding a little flavor to her water, either.

It's no secret that us moms have many different titles to our name. Whether you are a stay at home mom, work at home mom, work away from home to everything in between we are workers and we work hard.

There are times in our mom roles that we will work beyond being a mom. For me it's easy to see how I, as a mom, work beyond this. Being a military spouse I am constantly juggling schedules, appointments, well baby check-ups, being the only parent while Leo is TDY {Temporary Duty--which is always out of town for him} and being a single parent while he is deployed fighting a war overseas. I love being a military spouse more than anything. I believe that it builds good character in myself and my two daughters. We know what it's like to have a parent fighting a war. We know what it's like having mom be both mom & dad while dad is away {hello...I have been doing lawn mowing and landscaping...and I LIKE it, haha!}. We know that without our support my husband wouldn't be able to perform at a high performance level. My mom duty has definitely now shaped into the backbone of my family role.
