The One Where I Have Had Enough...

No, no, no. Not in the sense of Oh, I have had ENOUGH of this crap!

But more along the line of toys.

The toys have taken over our home. Seriously.

I feel like Santa's elves have invaded our home as a storage unit for all of his workshop's creations. Our house was just. that. bad.

But did you pick up on that?

That three lettered word was?

That's because tonite I had enough. Enough of muttering enough swear words each and every time one of the toys magically made their way under a foot.

Enough of one mess after another after another being created.

Enough of a certain almost three year old not wanting to assist me to pick up the disastrous messes.

I went and hunted down the biggest trash bag that we had. And when Isabella saw the said trash bag her eyes grew to the size of saucers.

It's like girlfriend just knew that mommy meant business.

I started in the playroom. Toy after toy after toy got chucked into the bag. Despite pleas from Bella to not put this toy or that toy in the bag. I moved onto the living room after that. And then? The girls' bedroom--closet, toy box, more bins.

I honestly emptied, sorted and dumped through so many of the bins that I felt like the DEA searching for a stash of well hidden drugs.

Toys were thrown into that bag left and right. Baby toys that Madelyn no longer needs. Toys that God knows where they came from. Toys that were played with once before tossed aside into the plethora of toy storage bins.

Don't make me count the number of toys that actually got thrown away--as in out to the trash can to be picked up by our trash man. That collection of loveliness included, but was not limited to chewed on toys, toys that most of the parts or pieces were missing, random Happy Meal toys.

Adios suckers.

I sure hope Isabella learned somewhat of a valuable lesson today.

Because I honestly don't want to have to do Operation Toy Riddance for two evenings in a row...that cuts into this mommy's wine time...

Doesn't it feel so GREAT to get rid of stuff! I did the same thing, only not with toys with clothes and random CRAP I've been hanging onto! I have been way skimpy on toys for Z and so far I haven't regretted it, he is way more interested in his burp clothes and other randoms anyway!

Oh man, I so hear you! I just went through all of my kids toys and chucked most of them! They don't even play with them anymore and I'm sick of seeing them. It was very freeing. :)

I hear you!! I'm going to do this on my days off this week. I am getting rid of toys AND clothes because it's just insane over here.

I soooo need to do that.
I used to go through their toys like once every 3 months. I haven't done it in a year... you can tell. I step on 50 different toys 50 times daily!
You rock!

Woo Hoo... I love that feeling you get when you unburdon your life like that... (Moments in my past like this is also why the girlies don't like me in their room...lol)

We've done that before...a few times. I even have toys in storage!!! I'm paying a monthly bill to keep toys. WTH is wrong with me?

Every 6 months (once in November/December and again in July/August) we sort through Hayden's toys and box up ones we want to keep, throw away ones that are not worth keeping, and box up ones that we want to donate. It works pretty well... I can't stand the toy debacle so I need to de-clutter every once in a while.

woohoo you go girlie! I purged our game closet this weekend! It felt good! I need to do Sammy's toys because they are seriously in every crevice of our house!

We're over due for a purge ourselves - way to go mommy!

We do random purges, too! However, I try to do them with the girls don't see. It's much better for them if they can't find something then if they saw them get rid of it.

You rock my world! I am so doing this.....

I used to do this when my kids were little. Sometimes we just removed toys to a storage bin for 6 months. Then when we brought them back out, we'd put some more in storage. It was like they were getting new toys again because they'd forgotten about them. I'm ready to purge the boys' room of those piddly things that seem to take up much needed space.

Wow! I have made threats and even started to go for the trash bag but have never made it that far...I don't know if I could really do it. I go through Carter's toys when he isn't around to trash the cheap random crap that manages to get into his bedroom. I need to get some guts and do a massive Toy Riddance Operation at our house!
