Reading Books--Do You?

I'm skipping This or That? Tuesday this week. I may be heading out of town on short notice, and I would hate it if I couldn't get to each of the participant's blogs. Don't worry--once things settle down over here in my part of the world I'll be starting up again.

So today's post is all about reading. When I was younger I loved to read--you could find me any time of day curled up with my nose in a book. Then entered middle school where reading wasn't "cool". I still read, just not as often.

Once I got older and moved away to Texas, reading started entering my world once again. I love it--I know that I can open a book and be lost in a world that isn't mine, even if it's only for a few minutes here and a few minutes there.

Today after taking Isabella to the doctor {which we found out she has the virus Madelyn had for over a week. Lovely.} I put the girls to bed and actually curled up. With a real life book. I know, right? A book? Not a magazine? Not a blog? But a book? With pages? And doodles courtesy of Isabella?

Yep. I was in heaven. I read and read and read...until I drifted off to sleep myself {another shocker, I know!}. I'm reading All We Ever Wanted Was Everything. And it rocks. Each time I pick it up I cannot put it down. I get lost in her writing--seriously, if you like chick lit, easy reads, a good summer read or a beach read you will enjoy this!

Are you reading anything good now? What types of books do you read and do you make time for yourself to actually sit down and read?

On a different note...I used to do a book swap on my blog {way back in the day} where basically if you had an unwanted book that you were done with you would write a post about the book on your blog and come and link up over here. Whoever commented first on your post would get the book.

The only rule was that if you commented that you wanted a book you had to list one yourself. It was a lot of fun! Let me know if you would be interested in participating--if I have enough readers who would like love this idea I'll start it up again!

I am also a HUGE reader, but haven't had much time since the babes came. However, I have just picked up a pretty good book (I will admit that I did go through the Twilight series since they have been born) called The Help. It is one that you don't want to put down!

Yes, The Help was awesome! COuldn't put it down. I also loved Twilight series and I just finished Loving Frank. So wonderful! So many books, so little time....

I loved the Twilight series and am currently reading The Help as well :) I love to read, but only seem to find time on airplanes, a few minutes before bed, and maybe on a holiday... A book swap would be super fun!!!

Lately my reading is limited to Pajama Time and other board books. I did just resort to a book on cd for the trip to and from work.

I don't read often, mostly because of time. But when I do, I LOVE getting sinking into a really great book that I can't put down. I was on vacation last week, and all I wanted to do was read on the beach!

You old book swap sounds similar to www.paperbackswap.com. Have you checked that out before?

Well I'll definitely have to check that one out. I love reading! I'm reading -Harvesting the Heart-by Jodi Picoult right now. I just finished -Branded- By keary Taylor, I really enjoyed that one a lot and would recommend it. Doing a book swap like you suggest is a great idea!

I'm 81 pages away from finishing Post-Mortem by Patricia Cornwell. I've had the book for a week and if I didn't have mommy-duties I would sit and read it all day! My main reading time is when I lay down in bed after Lexi goes to sleep. But, if Lexi takes a nap in my arms I will sneak in some reading!

I am in a book club, and love reading. I'm finishing up the classic Jane Eyre right now, and starting "The Help" next! I have heard amazing things about it. I love suggestions from avid readers... so next time I need a chic/beach read, I'll give your suggestion a try.

Have fun on your "getaway" or whatever you are doing!

I mostly like light reading -- like 'chick lit'. I have a few books that I would love to give to good homes! ;-) And maybe that way I could break from my genre too! I *love* to read though, for me it's a great escape!

I would LOVE to do this! I love reading :)

I love to read...unfortunately, I just don't have the time anymore. It sucks.

What a great post! I'm a HUGE reader. Everyone in my family enjoys reading. I mostly read fantasy with the occasional romance or young adult thrown in. I'm currently reading Brent Week's Night Angel trilogy, and if you like fantasy, I highly suggest it.

I am trying to read one book a month and I am getting behind I'm afraid. Right now I am trying to finish up my March book, The $64 Tomato. I would really be interested in the book swap deal!

I do!
And I would totally be up for this book exchange idea. The book you're reading sounds like something I would love. I just finished Under the Dome by Stephen King and am currently waiting for Push by Sapphire to become available at the library. Love reading!

Love reading! I just finished The Alchemist and thought it was pretty good! I am currently reading The Time Traveler's Wife. I am getting into a little more this time than the last time I tried it! I would totally be up for a book swap! I currently use a site called paperback swap but I would love to give away ones I loved to someone I "know."

I really started to enjoy reading again after high school. I love getting caught up in a story. Right now I am reading Summer's Child by Diane Chamberlain. I really enjoy her writing and the book is really good so far!

I love to read, too...always have. I tend to go on jags, going through 10-20 books in a month and then not reading anything for awhile, and repeating the cycle. Just this morning I was considering making a blog post re: reading! :-) Great minds.

I have read All I Ever Wanted Was Everything, LOVED it!!!!
Right now I am really into Kristin Hannah books. They are chick books, but I love her charactor development, the women are just so REAL, you know?
