Summertime...And the Livin's Easy....

I love thinking back and remembering moments of time from my favorite summers over the years. Summertime makes me a happy girl--I love it! The flip flops, tank tops, sweet tea...you name it, I love it.

This past week has been pretty hot down here on the coast--high 80's and even hovering around 90 degrees with our heat index and humidity. With all of this warmer weather it's had me thinking of some of my favorite summertime memories....nothing like traveling down memory lane to stir up lots of memories...

*Eating huge slices of watermelon as a young girl in the backyard. We have quite a few pictures of us kids holding our watermelons and smiling with our juice stained shirts.

*Taking rides in the wagon behind my Grandpa's tractor with all of my siblings and cousins. It was so much fun.

*Exploring the woods behind our house, packing picnic lunches and eating on the rocks at the creek...loved those days.

*Catching lightning bugs and pinching off their glow stuff to put on my fingernails. *Gag* It grosses me out now, but when I was a little girl I thought it was SO cool!

*Going to the pool and swimming for hours...I love the smell of chlorine...

*Getting married to Leo on July 16th, 2004...

*Having Madelyn July 29 of last year--I was so happy to not be pregnant through the entire summer and that she showed up a couple of days early for me!

*Watching fireworks with my family, going to the fair and eating Pineapple Whip any day or nite of the week...if you are ever in Springfield, Missouri you must try this stuff--it's to die for yummm...

*Going to the movies to escape to a dark, cool theater for a couple of hours to escape the heat.

I could probably go on and on about my love affair that I have with summertime...what are some of your favorite memories of summer?

I'm such a summer girl, too. Pool days, beach days, flip flops, watermelon, margaritas, a cool fan.

I don't know what pineapple whip is. Off to check it out.

I'm a Florida girl who lives about 5 minutes from the beach, and most of my favorite memories have nothing to do with it. I'm hoping that with my girls I can change that this summer. :-D

I haven't really enjoyed summers since I "grew up". But my favorite memories of summers include playing in the sprinkler in the front yard, playing outside even after my bath while in my nightgown, going for walks, the ice cream truck, and summertime thunder storms.

Our small county fair is definitely my fave part of summer. My parents own a ski boat and a cabin at a lake nearby so that's always fun.

Oh man, some of my best memories. My parents put a pool in our backyard when I was seven so tons of memories there. One being that every time we'd hear the ice cream truck, we'd jump out of the pool to flag him down. Loved playing night games. Days at the park, getting ice cream, going to the movies. It was the best!

Wow, I'm in love with your summers! I love the lazy summers and not having to worry about the boys getting off to school in the morning. I also now love my new hammock.

Those are some pretty good reasons to love the summertime, but I am such a winter girl. I guess it's do to being a pale freckled face girl that burns way to easily! Ha!

I love the summer. Summer growing up meant a trip to VA to visit relatives and family reunions and the beach.

I remember beach combing for shells... I had jars and jars of little shell bits, nothing anyone else would want, but I loved these treasures...

I remember leaving our house in the morning and only coming home for lunch and dinner... dirty, tired and happy...

Playing for hours under the lilac bushes... they drooped all the way to the ground and it was my seceret world in there... My private place to play "house" either by myself or with Stephanie who lived next door...

I remember being a teenager and "cursing" down Riverside Dr to the fairgrounds... windows down... hair whipping us in the face... radio blaring... flirting with guys... free...

Ahhh... Summer...
