Holy Adorableness.

Brynlie is now 3 months old.

Three whole. entire. months.

I love every single moment with this little girl.

She has the ability to turn me into mush within a moments notice.

She has also turned me into one of those moms who is always posting pics of their baby.

Trust me on this one--girlfriend gets her picture taken all. the. time.

Because I know that all too soon she will no longer be the "baby"....

She will be crawling.

Eating real food.

Sitting up.

Talking "real" words.

Walking.

So for now I will continue to be the mom that posts pictures all of the time.

And you do have to admit...she is pretty cute.

Weight Loss? Check.

Okay, I have lost track to when I first started eating healthier, eating less and exercising. I do know that it was less than two months ago when I went to my 6 week follow up appointment after Brynlie.

And in that time? I have lost 10 pounds.

TEN pounds.

I'm not going to lie, it hasn't been easy.

At. all.

BUT. I'm making progress!

I still allow a drink occasionally.

I still allow myself to have a cookie here and there.

But I'm not scarfing cookies down by the dozen. And, yes, that has happened.

I work out five days a week.

Trying to do something a little different on my two days off, but it is so hot outside I haven't been that successful. Yet.

I just wanted to update everyone that it is possible to lose weight after you have had a baby.

It's hard work. It takes dedication. It takes working out even on the days when you have nothing left to give, but you work out anyway.

Thank you to EVERYONE who is cheering me on--you have helped me so, so much--and I could never thank you enough!

Carmex Lime Twist & Carmex Vanilla Prize Pack {Review & Giveaway}

Congrats to callen! They were the lucky winner and have been notified as well as notified me back.

Photobucket

I cannot stand the feel of my lips when they get dry. Right after I gave birth to Brynlie my lips were so, so dry. As in dry for weeks. It drove me insane and I was constantly putting on lip moisturizer to make them not as dry. One of my go to brands to keep my lips feeling great and not dry? Carmex. They have two new flavors of click sticks that are available: Lime Twist and Vanilla. I recently got the opportunity to try them both out and I love them!

Photobucket

I wasn't sure how I would like the Lime Twist, but I ended up loving it. It made me lips feel so moisturized and the lime flavor and scent was not too overwhelming at all. Major bonus points for that. It left my lips hydrated for quite awhile and didn't make my lips sticky or goopy. Lime Twist was a win in my book.

Photobucket

I almost knew for a fact that I would love the Vanilla flavor and I did. The vanilla flavoring along with the original scent of Carmex smelled so good! It wasn't overwhelming or too vanilla smelling which made me love it even more. Nothing turns me off from a lip balm more than a flavor that smells really fake. My lips were so soft and stayed feeling hydrated even after the initial application. I loved it. And as the same with the Lime Twist, my lips never felt goopy or sticky which is an added bonus.

The new Carmex Lime Twist and Carmex Vanilla have three added moisturizers that the original line does not have. And a major bonus for me is that they both contained an SPF 15 to help protect your lips while outside in the sun. You can find the new Carmex Lime Twist and Carmex Vanilla at retailers to include CVS, Wal-Mart and Walgreens as well as many other retailers that were not named. I recommend that you try at least one of the new products out--they really are that good!

Giveaway

One lucky winner will be receiving a Carmex prize pack which includes one stick of Carmex Lime Twist, one stick of Carmex Vanilla and an awesome picnic blanket! The picnic blanket is a warm fleece on top and the bottom is waterproof so you won't have to worry if the grass is a little damp when spreading it out.

To be eligible to win visit Carmex and tell me which other product you would love to try. This must be completed before any bonus entries will be counted. Please leave a separate comment for every bonus entry completed.

Pillsbury Sweet Moments {Review & Giveaway}

Congrats to the winner! They have been contacted and have contacted me back.

Photobucket

Since becoming a mom I have come to realize that I need alone time. So many times we try to take care of everyone and everything around us. For me personally I love watching movies after the girls are asleep with a glass of wine or even just reading a good book on my front porch with no distractions. Remembering that I need to take care of myself has helped my life and my happiness factor tremendously.

Sometimes during these moments of sweet serenity I want something chocolate to eat that tastes great. After all, if I am going to indulge in something sweet I want it to be totally worth those extra calories.

One of my favorite desserts to treat myself with? Pillsbury Sweet Moments. They are so good. There is no prepping, no mixing, no baking required and they taste so good! They come in a bag in the refrigerated section at your local grocer. I found them by the the cookie dough--really easy to spot.

Photobucket

Pillsbury Sweet Moments are bite sized brownies that are covered in cocoa shell and then drizzled in chocolate. Sounds good already! Are you a cheesecake fan? They have it covered by offering their bite sized treats in Caramel Brownie Cheesecake and Raspberry Brownie Cheesecake. Not a big cheesecake fan? Don't worry, they also offer Cocoa Caramel Obsession and Cocoa Fudge Escape. They are really good and satisfies my sweet tooth every single time. A bonus? Three squares is one serving! So not only do I get chocolate, but I get to have three of them. It's a win-win for me!

Giveaway

Pillsbury Sweet Moments is here to help make sure that you can have your sweet moment. One lucky winner will win the above prize pack which includes 2 VIP coupons for a free bag of Pillsbury Sweet Moments in the flavor(s) of your choice, a coffee mug, a leather bound journal and a cozy blanket. To be eligible to win, tell me how you treat yourself to your own sweet moment. This must be completed to be eligible to win and before any/all bonus entries are counted.

Breastfeeding and Brynlie. I Did it.

I never really "got" breastfeeding before I had Brynlie. I semi breastfed/pumped and supplemented with Isabella. Madelyn refused to breastfeed and that was fine with me. Leo loved to help at feeding time and I got somewhat more sleep after Madelyn was born.

Brynlie is a different story entirely. Up until Leo got back from his deployment I never considered breastfeeding. My OB didn't ask me until Leo arrived home coincidentally. When my doctor asked me that afternoon--the very day that Leo stepped off that plane--how I would be feeding our newborn, I, without thinking twice, answered "breastfeeding".

Leo asked if I was sure, I nodded yes, I would love to try with Brynlie. I wasn't going to go down without a fight--and this fight was definitely worth fighting for.

I'm not going to lie, it was hard at first. Really hard. I felt like all that I did was nurse--around the clock. It took awhile before my milk came in so we would give the occasional bottle of formula. I know it's silly, but every time I gave her a bottle I felt guilty that I wasn't the one feeding her. I blame mommy guilt 100% for this thinking. After all, I did give my other two formula and there is nothing wrong with formula! It's just I wanted to breastfeed so badly with Brynlie.

As the days turned into weeks Brynlie and I became better and better at breastfeeding. I started listening for her cry when she wanted to nurse. Her formula supplements became less and less. I was getting happier and happier with each day that went by with no bottle.

Now? I am happy to say that Brynlie is 100% breastfed. She hasn't had a bottle in weeks. No formula, just momma. It's the best feeling to know that I did it. Believe me when I tell you that it was hard in the beginning and there were more days than none that I wanted to quit, give up. But I didn't. I pushed on. My body has kept up with a great supply for her demand. Brynlie is happy, healthy and thriving on the milk that my body makes.

I love watching her nurse. Her big eyes stare back up at me, her hand grabs onto my shirt. I love when her eyes are half closed and she drifts off to sleep. I love it when she smiles at me with that milky mouth (her nickname is milk mouth) and just beams up at me. It's heart melting. Love it. Love breastfeeding.

I didn't write this post to pound "breast is best" into your head or to knock formula. I formula fed all of my girls at some point, but now that I know that I can breastfeed? Ah-mazing. Do what's best for you, your baby, your life. Do what works for you, because we all know nothing is easy about being a mom.

Crocs Are Going Back to School

Photobucket

Thank you to Crocs for sponsoring this blog post. Please click here to learn more about Crocs' new Back to School line. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective. All opinions expressed here are my own.

School has been going for almost two weeks now where we live. I always get a little sentimental when school is starting up and I start thinking back to when I was in school as a little kid. I have to admit one of my favorite parts of school starting up was the back to school shopping. Stepping inside of store after store and smelling the smell of the new clothes and new shoes was pretty exciting back then--and still is if I have to be honest.

I remember begging my parents for the latest shoe craze and praying that they would get me that pair of shoes that everyone had. To this day I remember two pairs specifically that were the coolest shoes ever to a girl growing up. Those shoes were special to me and obviously were so important that I still remember them 20 years later--and they were nowhere near as cool as the shoes that are out for our children today!

I am proud to be able to share with you the new Back to School Crocs. This new line of Crocs has come out with 13 new styles of shoes for your child or children from Kindergarten through 8th grade. They have so many cute styles available that there is something for almost anyone out there.

Photobucket

The Back to School Crocs line not only are really cute, but they are functional and school approved, too. They are close-toed and close-heeled which can help ensure that your child is following the dress code if they can't wear open-toed and/or open-heeled shoes. A lot of kids may think that shoes that are close-toed and close-heeled have to be boring, but the new Crocs line is anything but boring.

Photobucket

Go and check out all of the new styles that Crocs has to offer! Isabella and Madelyn have picked out quite a few pairs that they love--I hope that your child will have as much fun picking out their new back to school shoes that I did when I was a child. And while you are visiting the Crocs website for your child's back to school shoes, make sure that you enter their Win a Trip giveaway where you could win a family vacation to San Diego (no purchase necessary).

I want to share with you the "They've Got Summer Inside Video". The video is interactive and allows you to click on the shoes to go directly to the Crocs website. While you watch it look for a picture of the hidden Easter Egg and when you find it you can click to see what happens.

Here is a hint to the egg:

A huge thank you to Crocs and Clever Girls Collective for choosing me to be a part of this campaign!

Five Things I Must Have When I Have a Cold...

Leo has gifted me with his cold. Lovely and miserable.

The good news is that I have kept up with my workouts. I'm pretty sure Jillian would give me a high five for that one...

Back to my must haves and what has kept me somewhat in a great mood in between my sneezing and coughing.

  • HGTV. Pretty sure I have recorded too many shows. Wait, there is no such thing as too many HGTV shows, right?
  • Comfort foods. Totally screwed over my healthy eating with the following foods: my Mom's oatmeal cookie recipe (NOT your average oatmeal cookie, my friends. I may need to pass this one along to the rest of you...) and homemade banana bread that is to die for yummy.
  • A new book. I'm currently reading Everyone is Beautiful and I LOVE it. It's a mom centered fiction book and she kind of reminds me of me. Granted I just started it, but I love when I can connect to a character. Here's a link to an excerpt from the book from Katherine Center's site.
  • Coffee. Had to make more this afternoon when I was practically falling asleep. Blah.
  • Tantrum free days. That's pretty much a wish. And a non reality.
  • Since I put in a wish I'll throw in a 6th must have. Lots of comfy pillows and blankets. Heaven for my aching body when I finally manage to get some sleep.

So there you have it. My must haves...well, one was a wish, but wishes do come true sometimes, right?

What are some things that you need to survive when you get sick? Can't wait to see--and add them to my list!

    The Story of Squirmy Wormy

You're probably asking yourself what in the world or more accurately, who is squirmy wormy. Before I go any further I am certain that we all know a squirmy wormy or two--whether by birth or just association.

Madelyn is my current squirmy wormy. As in when I change her diapers she morphs into a squirmy wormy which can be a full out battle at times! I can't remember what age this all began, but it is still continuing to this very day. Diaper changes with my Madelyn, as they were with Isabella, are a battle. I hope you have your battle gear ready if you have the job of changing her diaper.

Need a visual scenario to play out in your mind? Here is a quick replay of a diaper change with Madelyn:

    • Madelyn tells me she's 'tinky or "poppy"
    • I go and gather all of the needed gear (Huggies wipes & diaper, bag, etc)
    • I hunt her down
    • Once she is caught and I start pulling out the wipes she runs away once again
    • I catch her yet again where she proceeds to scream, go boneless, crying
    • I pin her down, take off the dirty diaper and try to get her new one on
    • Due to her wiggling, squirming, fighting, the diaper gets placed on crooked
    • Repeat diaper putting on until it is on perfectly

As Madelyn has gotten older I have figured out a few tricks along the way to make her less of a wiggle worm during her diaper change. A few of my favorite tips and tricks include:

    • Have all diaper changing necessities in one place--preferably where you do diaper changes at
    • Always, always, always make sure your wipes container is stocked! Nothing is worse than needing wipes, opening the wipes container and seeing that--ack!--you are out!
    • Distract your child with something. Whether it be a small toy, small book, or engage in counting/abc's/song. This usually works like a charm for us.
    • Offer your child a wipe of their own. I will hand one to Madelyn and ask her to clean her hands. She loves this and it gets her to practice cleaning up her hands or face.
    • Doing one of these usually will result in a successful diaper change without failing to get it on and secured properly.

I hope that by me sharing a few of my favorite tips it will help you out in the diaper changing department. If they all seem to fail on you, I am excited to announce that Huggies has come up with a great diaper (one that I've wondered since having Isabella why they weren't around yet!). The Huggies Little Movers Slip On diapers! Seriously--how great is that?! I can't wait to buy a pack and test them out on Madelyn.

If they will help in diaper changing I am all for trying them out. Especially once Brynlie gets older and learns that moving around is a lot more fun than staying still!

Do you have any nicknames for your little one during diaper changing time? Or do you have a tip to share to cut down on the frustration of changing a squirmy wormy's diaper? I would love to hear what you have to say. Leave it below in a comment to share with me and my readers!

I Think I'll Call Myself Shredder...

    You guys. You guys.

I am starting to get addicted to working out. As in I'm loving it.

I love Jillian and her shred time. I just completed day 8--yeah!

Isabella asks me where Jillian is every day when we wake up.

The best part since the beginning of my workout regime?

I have officially lost 7 lbs as of this mornin.

That's with a few diet slip ups. That's with enjoying some Skinnygirl here and there.

I'm happy to see the numbers going down--and I even managed to wear a pair of jeans I wore pre-Brynlie!

Granted they were my fat day(s) jeans, but I can wear them. Just a few weeks ago I couldn't even zip them.

That's my workout update with my weight loss. I am happy to see that working out 6 days a week is starting to pay off. I have to admit that it's a little disheartening on mornings where my weight hasn't budged, but it's super encouraging to see those numbers drop like they do!

If you need a workout/diet motivator let me know--I would love to start a link up where we can blog our progress, our setbacks or if you just need some encouragement!

    The Date.

Saturday night Leo and I decided to do something we had not done in a long time (get your minds out of the gutter, people).

    We planned a date.

    Not your typical date, though.

This was an at home date. After sleepy girls were tucked into bed.

Lucky for us our girls go to bed early. Extra early on days that are spent outdoors. Extra extra early on days spent outdoors sans naps.

    It's a win-win situation on these days. A rarity, but a win-win.

Leo went and picked us up some Mexican takeout...and I'm not talking about Taco Bell. He got us the good stuff. The real stuff.

He arrived home with our date food and a bottle of Skinnygirl Margaritas and we were set.

It was perfect. It was a date.

    And it was just us.

We have now decided we will have our dates more often...

Even if they are "just at home".

The One With Books, Shredding and a Princess

    * I think having a 3rd baby has zapped my blogging mojo. Seriously. I have no clue what to write. Until I get more substantial material I may stick with gobs of pictures of my babies. Because that's how I roll.

    * I just finished Summer Rental. It was a delicious, fun read. Yes, I just called it delicious. I wanted more and more and more...can't wait for her next book!

    * I am now reading Jaycee Dugard's book. It's a heart wrenching read so far, but I can't put it down. Just to read everything that she went through and how she survived it all just makes me admire her for her strength. Have you read her book? Thoughts?

    * Brynlie and Madelyn have well baby check ups PLUS shots for both. Fun times and I'm pretty sure I'll be packing Dum Dums for Madelyn and have Brynlie's milk bar ready for her. Not a huge fan of shot day--especially since TWO of my girls will be on the receiving end.

    * Did two weeks of the post baby boot camp DVD. I have now moved onto Jillian and her excruciating 30 Day Shred. Holy sore muscles! I love it so far. I've lost (well, depending on the day) 5 pounds. I'm sure it has to do with my eating. Doing better, just not great. But hey-I feel better and for now that's what counts.

    * I have a new favorite summer drink. Friends meet Skinnygirl. It's summer in a glass. It makes me want to invite y'all over to have some with me. Go now and buy some-I know you'll thank me so let me just say you're welcome.

    * Bachelor Pad starts Monday night. Three awesome hours of Bachelor and Bachelorette castoffs all living amongst one another. I think I'll break out the Skinnygirl for Monday!

    * I'm addicted to HGTV once again. Poor husband has to listen to me and my big dreams for our home. I've started him in the right direction--I can't wait to do some of our bigger projects. Lots of pictures and posts to come.

    * How's your week? Are you going to BlogHer? Or are you like me and a little a lot jealous that you aren't going? Sometimes I want to go, but I'd miss my little family way too much right now. Maybe sometime down the road. Maybe not. We'll see.

    * And here's the cutest princess ever wishing you all a fabulous end of your week!

    And the Weeks Keep Flying By...{Wordless Wednesday}

    10 1/2 weeks old...

    LYSOL® Healthy Touch® No-Touch Hand Soap System {Review & Giveaway}

Congrats to the winner who has been notified and notified me back.

    Photobucket

Cleanliness and hygiene are two important factors that I, as a mom, incorporate into my family's every day life. I have sanitizing wipes handy, hand gel for on the go and all of our road trips and soap is a must in each of my bathrooms. With a newborn at home I try to make my home as clean as possible and our healthiness is a huge must.

As much as I use hand soap I have to wonder how many germy hands and fingers have touched said soap pump. Have you ever thought about it? I mean, we all wash our hands a lot. After using the bathroom, after gardening, after yard work, after the beach, after the park...you get the picture. That is a lot of filth going onto the soap dispensers. I've wanted a hands free system for awhile, but hadn't found one until recently--and this dispenser? A huge must have for my home.

    Photobucket

Meet the LYSOL® Healthy Touch® No-Touch Hand Soap System. This soap dispenser is hands free--which means no nasty germs lurking on top for person after person after person to touch and recontaminate. Voted the 2011 Best Product of the Year*, I can see why. This dispenser senses your hands and gives out the correct amount of soap each time. I found it to be clean and not messy--no more soap flying out and missing the intended hand target! Huge bonus with Isabella and Madelyn, I no longer am cleaning soap off the counter constantly.

      The Gift...

      Seriously sweet.

      Bright Starts Baby Play Place Deluxe Edition {Review}

      Photobucket

Brynlie is getting to the age where she is really soaking in her surroundings and not wanting to be held 24/7. Although I miss snuggling with her so much, I honestly love watching her and her new found independence. From finding her hands, talking to me daily and finding an interest in everything around her--I love it all.

One of her favorite toys is the Baby Play Place Deluxe Edition. Holy cow. This toy? Has it all. From a motion activated musical ladybug, to a mirror and a variety of different settings it truly is one of the top baby gyms that I have used!

      Photobucket

Right now we have the sides both placed in the up position. It's a great way for Brynlie to lie there and tilt her head to look at the clouds, trees and bright animals. I can place her on the mat and she will do a lot of quiet alertness (or "QA" as my sister calls it) while focusing on the different focal points.

I love how there are the two cross bars that overlap on top. We've placed the musical ladybug in the middle, and have hung the rattles, teethers and elephant buddy on the sides. I have watched Brynlie kicking like crazy and hitting the little rattles over and over again. I think she is starting to realize that, hey, she's the one making the noise and she loves it! It also comes with the following attachments:

      • colorful bead chaser
      • 2-in-1 electronic musical toy
      • a tummy pillow for some tummy time
      • the four walls can be configured into your baby's stage (newborn, infant, crawling and sitting)
      • water filled bee for teething

I highly recommend this play gym for it has so many different positions and ways to have the walls up, down or half and half. It truly will last her a long time. The fact that it has a musical motion activated ladybug is a huge plus!

My final opinion? Love it. It's a top of the line baby gym that has so many great toys, teethers, and possibilities. If you're in the market for a new baby gym or have a baby gift to get a friend I recommend the Baby Play Place Deluxe Edition hands down.
