You know when you say something and you automatically shut your mouth and think I SO should not have said that!
Because, you know, you'll jinx yourself and whatever you were happy and having a convo about will no longer be true.
Lets just say this happens to me more times than I care to count...
No joke.
My latest and greatest example?
It went along the lines of Leo and I cleaning up the kitchen last week. I turned to him, smiling, and blabbing something along the lines of, "I feel so lucky that Isabella hasn't learned to climb/jump/throw herself from her crib yet! Are we lucky or what?! I really think it's because we lowered it so early!" I'm surprised I didn't stick my hand out for a high five.
To which he responds, "I know! We are lucky...."
So...you can see where this is going, right?
Today at naptime I heard this strange sound coming from Isabella and her supposed naptime.
What in the....?! I thought to myself.
Thinking it was just the cat I continued to lay on the couch....my eyelids heavy with exhaustion.
Then the sound happened again. I immediately knew she was up to something and jumped up. Fast.
I open the door and gasped. Loudly.
She was half basking, half dangling. From the top of her crib.
We now have a crib leaper.
And I am now looking at Target for her new toddler decor.

OH NO. I remember when K did that. I cried. To this day i'm crying. Good luck on the transition.
Try to be as serious about how "dangerous" it is to try to get out of her crib and see if it makes a difference for now. Austin tried it once and when I expressed how concerned I was with him getting hurt, he didn't do it again. We just moved him to a toddler bed last weekend and only because we were tired of heaving his 40 lb body over the rail.
Good luck!
I remember my eldest doing that too and landing with a thump!
He went into a "big boys" bed the next night!
Your blog is beautiful,

ooo no thats the worst! My son climbed out on Christmas Eve.. and hurt himself and hasn't tried since. We however have a canopy (tent) for the top of the pack n' play at my MILs for the 2 days a week hes there for nap time :-P
Good luck with the transition!
Oh no! She could get hurt! Picturing her doing that makes me laugh for some reason though...
Ahhh. Izzy did it once at a friend's house, but never tried at ours!
Good luck with the transition! Izzy did it no problem!
Oh no! Haha... so true... the second you say something...
We really should start talking about how we never win the lottery! And see if our luck changes there!
When my first born son was a baby, he got 2 really bad kidney infections because he had a condition called hydronephrosis, which he outgrew, and I remember when he was 10 months old I said 'I'm so glad he only had those 2 infections'. Then of course the next day, fever, and UTI. SIGH! Seriously!??
Do you have your crib on the lowest setting? My 14 month old is still in his crib and when he stands up, there is no way he can attempt to climb out of it...
Hi Chelle! Great to be back! So excited to hear that you are having a baby girl!
Can't believe you have a little escape artist on your hands!
Good luck with this transition...
This falls under the "I spoke too soon" category, doesn't it? ; )
she must know that baby #2 is taking her place in the crib:)
My little sister was a "crib jumper." She could climb out what ever crib she was put in...a little monkey!
I had a crib escaper too - on Christmas morning after he turned two he climbed out, opened the door and walked down to our room to wake us up! I was floored!!! Time for you to nip this in the bud :) Good luck!!!
uhm i am not going to say anything - or else you will be reading this exact post on my blog tomorrow.
lips are sealed and hoping you find some adorable toddler bed stuff :)
Wyatt still sleeps in a sleeping sack, so he can't get his leg up and over the railing.
It's worked like a charm - otherwise, I know he'd be out in 5 minutes flat.
Good luck with the toddler bed; heck, you needed the crib anyway :)
So Bella solved the crib vs toddler bed question herself, didn't she?
So sorry it happened so early!
