So as many of you know it's Lent. The time of year when us Catholics give something up for a few weeks.
Here is a list that I made trying to decide what in heck to give up. This is never easy for me, I have to add. I like what I like. I don't like giving up something that I love. Know what I mean?
*Swearing-I know, totally unladylike, but I swear. I've gotten MUCH better since having the girls. But still. What if one flew out of my mouth on accident? Too much thinking on this one for me. Plus, what if I say a bad word in my head? See--this one totally confused me. Moving on.
*Caffeine-This one was Leo's idea. Surely he wasn't serious?!
*Wine-Pfft. Who was I kidding. This is the one thing that helps me unwind after a long week. And this week? Longest week eva.
*Food-Again, not so much. I tried to think of eliminating eating out, McDonald's drive thrus. But the thought of cooking every.single.nite? No thank you.
*Tv-Hahaha. Enough said.
*Internet-I then realized that I have too much going on with my blog. Plus I'd miss my bff's {bloggy friends for-e-ver way too much}
*Sweets-This is what I ultimately decided on. But not every single thing with sugar. I did decide to cut out cakes {no cupcakes? *sob}, cookies {*sniff*} and candy {*waahh!*}
So what can I eat that's sweet? Ice cream or pastries. Don't worry, it's not like I went and stocked up on all of this. I just allowed those just because. I think the candy will be the hardest...but I'm pretty sure my butt and thighs will be loving this--who knows. Maybe I'll drop another couple of pounds?!
Did you give anything up for Lent? Do you make it the whole time? I need ideas for next year because every year it's the same list that I have...I need some ideas!
Have a fabulous weekend friends! And have a cupcake or Reese's for me....

Happy Friday!
I'm not Catholic, but I should give up the sweets too!
I'm a new follower from Friday Follow.

Another thing we have in common: I am Catholic too! This year instead of giving something up, I decided to do something extra. I am doing a daily rosary (something I never do) and after two days of saying it, I feel more peaceful somehow. Just spending time meditating on Scripture has helped me refocus my priorites, you know?
Good luck with giving up candy...I should probably give up sweets too!
Like you I skipped right over the thought of giving up wine. I gave up sweets too. I LOVE chocolate and had a tummyache Tuesday night trying to eat as much sweet stuff as possible to hold me until Easter Sunday. Two days down and I'm just slightly crabby...
I am def. still trying to think of something. Since I have had this insane craving for chocolate lately it should seem right that I should give up the one thing that is packing on pounds...although that would be just too hard. Maybe I should try giving up bread...no, no, I CANT do that! I have to think of something non food related...maybe if its to work out more I will balance out the food thing! haha!
You can't give up blogging...id miss you too much!
Having to look at this Catholic list. I'm glad to just be a plain old Christian. This is a tough one to look through I, too, would have to pick the {sweets}, as there is no way on any of the others, especially the blog.
Have a great weekend -

I swear, I am writing a post like this over the weekend! How funny! I haven't written mine yet b/c I'm still in limbo about what to give up. I thought caffeine, but how would I function without my morning coffee? Whateva!
You and I are the same with wine and caffeine. I can't function without either!
Happy Friday! I just posted on some new wine info yesterday!

I've never given anything up for Lent. Your list of things that you couldn't give up- I couldn't give those up.
I SHOULD give up sweets.
I an not Catholic but I definitely need to give up chocolate and diet cokes...they are truly my downfall..lol. Have a great weekend!
I'm not Catholic, but I gave something up last year -- soda. SO. HARD. Good luck with yours! Or prayers? Yeah, prayers!

Happy Friday follow.. I'm now following you.
I'm not Catholic, but I think its always difficult giving up things you love. I stopped drinking Coke, and I'm a self-proclaimed Coke addict. Day 2... we'll see how it goes!!
Looking forward to reading your blog in more depth.
I will definitely eat extra for you! Props girl!
Super blog!
Thank you so much for the sweet words, it means more than you know!
Oh how I wish I could give up sweets... I live for them I think I would die without them ROFL...
Good luck mommas , as a fellow catholic I still have not decided what to do. If I can't do it this year I may have to switch religions LOL
Go on with your bad self..
Luv ya

Im not Catholic but I did give up sodas! I needed to give them up anyway. So far today has been the hardest day. But I will be ok. I also am trying to cut down on my sweets! But it's hard!!!
i stopped giving up years ago - i always felt so guilty when i couldn't make it through lent!! how sad is that!
I got good advice from a therapist friend.... give up making lists!
I found you through Friday Follow - nice to meet you! Would you follow me back?

We gave up TV - I wrote about it Wednesday. Will we make it the whole time? Yes! That's the rule, right?
I'm actually not giving up something- I'm doing something! All of my friends here have moved away in the past year and so I'm finally using meetup.com to (sadly) find new friends! So far, so good but I've only gone to one event. However, I made friends at that event and we've made plans to get together! So, that's a plus..
Elghhhh, Marmot and I debated what to give up for Lent! We were going to give up fast food, but we were really looking forward to Wendy's fish sandwich....lol So ultimately we decided to give up Lent. I know I know, total failure....my Gram is probably spinning in her grave.
I'm giving up laundry and cleaning! I think I'll be okay with those!
Just found your blog - very nice!!
And I'm also Catholic and also giving up sweets (including the ice cream and pastries) ....
Our Pastor insists that Sundays are not part of the Lenten fast ... so, I have a better chance of actually MAKING the sacrifice! :)
Nice blog - great artwork!
