But...
He is no Pioneer Woman. I'm serious.
It all started when he has been practically
With me being in a cinnamon roll induced coma--please don't ask me what my diet has consisted of for two days...okay, fine: cinnamon rolls, Diet Coke, a few bites of mashed potatoes and some Mexican food. Ugh. I'm going on a water diet tomorrow--I have refused to make it. But he kept begging and begging--so I told him what any sensible woman would do.
I told him if he wanted it that bad to make it himself.
I knew it was a bad sign when I walked in the kitchen and he was turning the meat over in the pan and they were pretty burnt. Moments later I heard windows slamming open, the back door opening and fans getting turned on.
This was all followed by smoke filling my entire house. Oh my Lord. It couldn't get much worse...until I sat down to eat and tried to cut it open. Um. It was raw. Red. Bloody.
I told him that it wasn't cooked and man, did he get defensive! He was all oh, please, babe. You eat steak redder than this.
Uh, this isn't steak...and my plate is filling up with red yucky juice....after seeing he was upset I told him it was okay--we all know how many things I've screwed up trying to cook!
He asked what I was going to eat--he would cook me something, run to get me something else. I told him not to worry about it--and did what any sensible woman in my shoes would have done.
I picked up my can of Diet Coke and grabbed just one more cinnamon roll....

Ohh. He tried! That's endearing. I, too, love diet coke and cinnamon rolls. Yum!
Poor guy. Gotta give him an A for effort!
Lmao...oh no!! Poor fella! It's really not that easy to cook! I've tried a few times, the first time I made it...that shit was awesome! The second...the batter kept falling off of the meat. The third time...wrong, just wrong! Lol...
LOL, Gotta give the man some credit for trying. Hubby just learned where the can opener was...oh the same place its been since we've owned one!
Great story, and I'm sure your hubby is so thrilled that you told it :)
HAHAHAHA that sounds like my cooking disasters! (dropping the entire thing of cooked pasta into the sink filled with dishwater...lol) Tell Leo good job for trying!! And tell him that Anthony made some DELICIOS talapia last night HA!
And you know that you have to make those cinnamon rolls for me when I have Avery, right??
Too funny! Hey atleast he tried. My husband can only make cereal and maybe a sandwich! Sersly! Ha!
LOL! Just read this out oud to my H4L. He cracked up saying he will never attempt this on his own!
a) seriously must make these cinnamon rolls! what am i waiting for?
b) poor hubby. mine tried to make bacon this weekend - same thing - kitchen full of smoke. poor guys!
Oh no!! Aww, poor guy. That about sounds like most things I try to make that are too complicated..lol! Well, thank goodness for cinnamon rolls!
Poor guy, he tried! My hubby fills the house up with smoke too when he cooks.
Oh gosh! Poor thing!!
And, for the record, this makes me want to go use that cinnamon roll coupon he didn't take with him. *sigh*
YES!! I too am ADDICTED to Diet Coke and I substitute your cinnamon rolls for vanilla oreo's!! Not much better!
It's hard to criticize your hubby when you know he tried so hard! :)
Gotta love em!!
too funny... I remember many meals that ended like that when I was first married... I don't think I ever offered to go get hime something else... there was the night he came to dinner and all I served was tater tots and brown-n-serve rolls... he must have spied the tons of dirty dishes and burnt pans, since he didn't ask any questions....
LOL lady! I am a big fan of the cinnamon roll and mexi food diet! You go girl! And props to the hubs for givin' that chic fried steak the old college try! I would've passed on the steak floating in it's own blood on the plate too (a little rare for my taste)...but I'll take another cinnamon roll please!

I love this post..husbands what can you do? Gotta love em' Love the blog and I am your newest follower/fan/stalker...lol..have a great day! Come on by my humble blog and take a look around!
oh.my.gosh. I did that very same thing trying to broil steaks one time...except they weren't red inside (which probably would have been preferable). You husband at least gets points for trying, right?!
You crack me up, and I'm totally craving a cinnamon roll now!
I could so see this happening at my house, lol.
Those darn cinnamon rolls! I want one.
LOL. Your hubs sounds like me. I am not the cook in my fam.
Hi honey! I have an award in my blog fo you! Enjoy!
That's something I would do! Hubby's the cook around here. I suck!
Stopping by from SITS and wishing you a great day! :)
A for effort right?! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello! My phone is a Samsung Moment. What I am doing carrying around a phone like this I have no clue..but I feel at least 5 years younger by doing it so I'll go with that! ;)
Oh man... a diet coke and a cinnamon roll sounds delicious! I might need to run to the store... ;)
LOVE it! Your diet sounds like mine. I just bought a ton of healthy groceries in a effort to get back on track, but the kids' cookies are calling to me...
AWWW!! At least he had good intentions! Pass me a cinnamon roll while you're at it. I just cannot seem to get back on any sort of diet bandwagon. On that note, I'm going to go pour another glass of wine and get a cookie.
Ha! Well, at least he tried. I think husbands shouldn't be allowed near the Pioneer Woman's recipes...my husband butchered her chicken parm recipe a few weeks back. It was not pretty.
mmmm... Diet coke and a cinnamon roll! We should be friends. I found your blog on Mommie Life, and just added your button! I will be stopping by often!
HAHA! MEN! I will give it to Leo though...at LEAST he tried! p.s. can I have a cinnamon roll too?!?
We men do try to cook. Sometimes, we succeed, and then there are "situations to spark a great blog post". Great post, btw. Props to the guys who try to cook. I rate this- Two charred meals, way up! :)
Thanks for sharing! I wanted to let you know that I have a surprise for you on my blog. Please come over and check it out!
I love, love, LOVE PW's cookbook. I have yet to make the cinnamon rolls, though. Hmm.....
You did the right thing? Once blood comes out, it must not go back in!
I could live on carbs. I'm bad like that!
so typical! my hubby would have done the same thing... men!!!
*lol* That is too funny! :) That is me if I have to fry aything - I burn it just about every time. I worry about it not being done, so I over due it and smoke the house it.
