Why Can I Not Find a Hair Stylist?

Seriously. Enough with the horrible hair stylists. The last two that I went to here in Mississippi have been awful. As in their hair skills are way below satisfaction.

I don't think that I am asking much.

I want someone to not leave 1/2 inch of roots showing from my highlights. I mean, come one. Put the foils up to the top. Apply hair color. Voila.

When I say that I want highlights, but want them to look natural, don't practically color my entire head of hair blonde. Totally not natural. And for the record--blonde isn't orange. Just sayin'.

When I bring in a picture (in color to even help said stylist out) please listen to me. Please, please, please study the picture, study the texture of my hair and tell me if you don't think that this is possible for my hair or your skill level. Don't glance once at the picture and not look at it again.

Don't have your male coworkers feeding you bites of cake while I am your client. Right then and there I decided that this place was not for me.

Don't try to have my buy clip on feathers for my daughters. Not interested. I saw the racks when I walked in. If I was interested I would buy them when paying. Not when I am sitting in the chair wondering who else would come and feed you some bites of food.

My hair currently looks like crap. From the hack job to the horrible highlight job, I am upset. I know it's just "hair", but that is one area of my life that I feel like I have control of. Not to mention that I am paying a lot of money to get my hair "professionally" done.

Someone suggested another salon--much closer to my home and they even have portfolios of their work. It looks like they have fixed quite a few bad hair jobs from their pictures...I am praying that this one works out. I can't keep going home to Missouri to have my #1 girl fix my hair every month!

Now the countdown is on until I go and get my hair done again. 7 1/2 weeks to go. I may beg and plead and cry to Leo that 5 1/2 weeks would be much better...

Thanks for listening...just not happy with my hair...*sigh*

1)  f450 One Pass. This stuff? Is amazingness for my hair. It smooths and helps fight the frizz--which is major since living on the coast our humidity is out of control! Love this product and recommend it to everyone who wants a frizz fighting hair product.



 2)  A good book. I'm currently reading Summer Rental by Mary Kay Andrews--LOVE it! I love all of her work and recommend all of her books for a great summer read. I suggest if you can to sit outdoors with an ice cold drink and get lost in her books. Fabulous and fun!

3)  I know I've talked before about fun summer colors on my toes, but I have to tell you again--go out, buy a nail color you've thought about wearing. I'm wearing Essie's Cute as a Button. Loves. It's cute, summery and goes with tons of my clothes--I think you'll heart it as much as I do and it flatters everyone!

4)  A go-to summer drink. Lately I've really enjoyed a good beer at nite when the little ones have gone to bed. I'm somewhat of a beer snob, so I choose mine wisely. I also love having my old faithful Diet Coke--total must have for me (as in a daily must have!).

5)  Flip flops! Every girl needs flip flops--and Old Navy is the mecca of flip flop heaven. I almost always end up leaving their store with at least one pair...okay, it's usually just one pair if my girls are having meltdowns. If they're behaving I treat myself to another pair or two...

Infiniti Pro Conair Hairdryer Giveaway

With my hair being so thick and wavy it's so much easier for me to just pull it up and out of the way than blow dry and straighten it during the summer months. The humidity down here on the coast is so thick it really makes me unhappy with my hair.

Upon receiving the hairdryer and opening it I loved the color right away. It's a fun and funky orange--even Isabella and Madelyn were interested to see what it was. It comes with two different attachments for the dryer if you were wanting to use them. There are three temperature controls: hot, warm & cool as well as two speed controls.

It was heavier than my old hair dryer, but my old dryer wasn't an AC motor--it was a typical hair dryer that I've used for years. I plugged it in and got to work. I used the "warm" setting on "low" speed--and let me tell you that the force of air was awesome. My hair dried a lot quicker and didn't frizz up like it usually does after I blow dry and straighten. Fall, Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, and a Sick Husband...

Dear Lord I am one random chick tonite. I honestly don't even know where to start with this post, it's sort of all over the place in my brain, just trying to figure out where each piece of the post will go...

I guess it's safe to say that I am 100% officially over summer. Seriously. I am tired of the heat warnings. Tired of hurricane season. Tired of the air conditioner running non-stop. I want opened windows. Jeans. New fall clothes. Cute fall shoes. Pumpkin spiced lattes from Starbucks or any other coffee shop that has them.

Okay. Now that I have all of that off my chest I feel SO much better!

I know I've been MIA for a few days and that's because the husband is sick. Like fever, miserable sick. He got some meds on Thursday, but was still running a fever as of last nite. Ugh! Seriously--I've been busy with the girls, the house, paying the bills...I was sad thinking that with him holed up in our room away from us is eerily similar to what we'll be going through here in a few weeks.

It was quiet and a little lonely--be happy that I don't have your phone numbers, because poor you would be getting calls a lot. My poor Mom--she'll probably be annoyed with me!

And last, but certainly not least, I cut my hair and darkened it. I loved it yesterday when I got it done. But when I woke up this morning I was a little bummed that I cut off a few inches and went for a new color. I think once I fix it myself tomorrow I'll be happier. I hope.

The main thing about my hair appointment was that my new stylist charges $40 more than my old hairdresser at the same salon. They also don't carry my Moroccan Oil anymore. I'm thinking I'll find another place now...what would you do? Would you fork over the extra money or find someone else that does great hair for a better price?

Okay, that's all I have for rambling...hoping that the new week will bring fresh ideas to my stressed out brain!

I remember growing up and never having a flat iron. We had crimpers and wavers back then--but nothing to make hair straight. I spent a countless amount of  hours using my curling iron and running it down my hair just to make it somewhat straight. It was brutal!

The first flat iron/straightening iron that I received was around 10 years ago. It wasn't one of the nice ones that are around today, but hey--it was better than nothing! It was like the miracle I always needed for my hair. No more unwanted waves and no more try to straighten with a curling iron. My hair prayer was answered!

The Phone Call that Momentarily Has Changed My Life.

Yesterday afternoon was great. We were all exhausted from our beach walk and jaunt in the park. It was a kind of day that I would love to plaster all over the place--except I usually can't stand that crap and decided to play some Bejewelled on the couch instead.

I know, I know--some life, huh?

I was sitting on the couch in fact, open can of Diet Coke aka bestdrinktoeverentermylife. Well, except for wine.

Ahem.

And my phone rings.

Hey Soul Sister
Ain't that mister mister
On the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know 

I look at caller id and see that it's my hair girl. The girl that has made my hair so incredibly happy and beautiful and more importantly? She has made me hair confident.

She is just. that. good.

I answer and get the news that no girl ever, ever wants to hear after she has found someone fabulous to bring life and love back her hair.

She? Is moving.

Upstate.

*Insert sobbing here followed by a glass or two of wine*

I moved my next appointment up just to get in to see her one more time.

I'm sure that I can see someone else at the salon. But it's not her. My hair soul mate.

*Sigh*

So here's to you, oh fabulous one. I know you'll be making so many other heads of hair oh so happy.

The Hair Miracle. Seriously.

This little gem? Is Moroccan Oil  and it's truly a miracle worker on my hair. Lately my hair had been dry and just blah. Thanks to winter and having to use the heat 24/7....it's been a nightmare for my hair.

One of my friends on Facebook suggested this--her husband is an amazing hair stylist where I grew up--and she swore by it.

So yesterday at my salon for Bella's appointment I saw this on the shelf. I asked Dana {my fabulous hair stylist who does our hair} if it was THE Moroccan Oil. She laughed and said yes. I asked her if it was as good as everyone claimed. She told me yep--this stuff is the real deal.

I bought it and guess what? I'm in love, y'all. I will NEVER use another product. Everything else that I've written about and boasted about has NOTHING on Moroccan Oil. I'm serious--and that's coming from me the girl who is addicted to all things hair/makeup related.

It has made my hair soft. Manageable. Shiny. Perfect. I'm not kidding--it's like a hair miracle in a tiny little bottle...and I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a hair miracle.

I bought this product on my own. I love it. I recommend it. However, if you buy it and don't love it? I'm sorry...and that doesn't make me responsible....although I am 99.9% sure you'll love it. Google it. You'll read the raves around the 'net....

Wen Cleansing Conditioner {A Winey Mommy Review}

I recently had the chance to review Wen Cleaning Conditioner {in sweet almond mint}.  I don't know about y'all but when it comes to hair care products I am super picky.

I am cursed blessed with extremely thick and wavy hair--and living in the South?  Oh my.  It's so hard to find a good shampoo/conditioner/product that won't totally dry out my hair or make my hair extremely greasy. 

When the Wen Cleansing Conditioner arrived I was ecstatic to review it.  It recently was awarded the coveted Shecky's "Beauty at its Best Award" for both their shampoo and condtioner.  I love using a product that's been recognized--that means {to me} that it must be great to quite a few people out there.

This conditioner is a single step process that cleanses and conditions--which means there is no need to use a seperate shampoo.  I read on the back of the bottle that this product doesn't lather.  It's like a really thick conditioner treatment for your hair that you leave on for 3-5 minutes, depending on the amount of conditioning you are looking for {more if you have longer hair}.  It's also made with natural ingredients which is very important to me--both for myself and my family.  The Wen Cleansing Conditioner does not contain sodium laurel sulfate and other damaging detergents that can be found in a lot of other shampoos/conditioners.

***My Opinion***

I used the Wen Cleansing Conditioner last nite.  It smelled SO good--very minty and fresh.  In my opinion it's a great product to use in the morning if you're tired and taking a shower--the scent will wake you up and perk you right up!

I pumped the recommended 16-24 pumps into my hand and massaged into my scalp and hair {and remember it's both a shampoo and conditioner--awesome!!}.  I let it set for ~5 minutes and then rinsed.  I was afraid because of how thick it was that it would be hard to rinse out and leave a film on my hair.  I was wrong!  It left my hair feeling so clean--I loved how clean my hair felt.

I then did the "ultimate test"--blow drying my hair.  My hair tends to frizz out quite a bit if I don't use the right conditioner.  I blow dried and straightened my hair--perfection.  I seriously loved it.  Even the husband complimented me on my hair.  I loved that he even noticed that I was having a great hair day.

I would definitely recommend this product to my family, friends and readers.  I loved it that much.  A great product that both smells wonderful and did its job--with natural ingredients.
