I Hate to Tell You This....

Okay, what I'm about to tell you may hurt.

It may hurt a little.

Or it may hurt you a lot. Like it does me.

Oh, how it hurts me. It hurts me to maybe have to hurt you.

Take a deep breath....

We. Have. No. Target. Store.

Ahhh....it feels good to finally say this out loud...this sad, sad truth.

The nearest Target is an hour away. An hour. And with gas prices as high as they are, we don't get to go as often as I would like.

Which, in a perfect world, would be every other day.

I have written them requesting a store closer to my house (did you know you can write to Target to request a store?!). They wrote back that it all depends on how many other losers Target addicts write to them requesting a store.

I read other blogs that I stalk visit daily and I am constantly reading about Target.

I feel like Jan Brady. Target. Target. Target.

I know you can shop there online, but their website does not do the store justice, people. It simply does not.

I ask of you one thing. That next time you are wandering down those Target isles, sipping on your Starbucks or munching on your popcorn and soda, finding the cutest stuff at the best prices....think of me. Think of me sitting here thinking when I will be able to go to Target next.

Because chances are it won't be for a very, very long time.

I used to live where there wasn't a Target OR a Wal-Mart for a 45 minute drive. Oooh boy, those were the days. I had so much extra spending money.

Oh my! That's not good.
I hate to tell you this but they are building a new one near me and there is already one only 5 miles from the new one. I would totally share if I could!

How sad. I can't even imagine. Well, actually, I can. We didn't have one in college, but I didn't really know what I was missing!

I hope they build one STAT!

Ok what I have to tell you will make you feel a tiny bit better.

We have no Target at all. I mean anywhere. For me to go to Target it'd require my passport and a 6 hour flight.

But to be fair on all my previous trips to Target I have needed 1 or 2 things and come away with 40. So maybe it's just as well the ocean keeps us divided!

Poor Jan Brady...that really stinks!!! Although if it makes you feel any better, I never get the popcorn at Target anymore because my kids make a complete and total mess with it!!! We leave a trail down every aisle.

Write that letter/email..you never know!

I can't even imagine what it would be like to not live near a Target. I have my pick of 3! Though the closest one is really ghetto and doesn't see a lot of us. There's just something about the lighting and smells of Target that keep me wanting more.

You must go CRAZY when you finally make it to one.

i love that mamasphere said the "smells" of target!! when we lived in nyc on our trips home it was the first place i went. i literally used to walk through the doors and just breathe in the smell :)

it was a rough couple of years!!

but you will make it friend. maybe we could start a petition for you??

and when i am there on friday, i promise to think of you every step of every aisle :)

so sorry chelle...i feel for you. my closest target is almost 30minutes away. i often visit when I am going that way for something and I do bask in my target moment. the smell of the popcorn always gets me!

Chelle, I'm SOOOO sorry! I am missing my Target too. I too will require the use of my passport and about 8 hours on the plane to get there. But I do have my family shipping me a box of their goodies from last weeks sale! So I will think of you when it arrives. Oh and you are totally right about the online shopping. It just isn't the same. They don't offer the same sales that are in the flyers to the online customers. And you just can't find those awesome 75% off sales if you aren't there like every week checking things out. I'm a Target girl too. So I feel for you. I hope they build one for you soon!!

For what its worth, we have a Target within 5 minutes, but I don't go very often. Target isn't on the budget right now. So I guess in a since we're in the same boat.

You know what is funny?
I have a post written in my drafts that is almost the exact same thing.
Seriously.
Too funny.
I will have to wait to publish it later so it won't look like I just copied you.
I have a Target 30 minutes away in 5 different directions.
Why can't they just build me one?
So glad to know I can write them.
I will get started today!

Oh, I feel your pain. Deeply. I haven't lived in a "Target" town for 5 years. It's very sad indeed. At least I am an hour closer than I use to be. That still makes it 1 1/2 hours away, but it's much more do-able than before!

OHHHHH -- You can't beat the kids clothes (5T & under)for the price ($4)at Target!!

Sad, but if I don't find what I want at the one 5 minutes away, I just drive another 5 and then another and...must be a Texas thing! You should totally come here.

Maybe my latest trip will make you feel better...http://we-be-long.blogspot.com/2008/07/deaf-numb-or-desperate.html

Well, you could try to look at the upside - you are saving yourself some major money. DH and I joke that there is a $100 cover charge there - I go in for a couple of things and come out with huge bags. Target addiction may just come second to my blog addiction. Seriously, though - I hope they heed your call and start building one closer to you. You should start a town petition!!! You could be the local hero who got Target to come to town!

Target totally sucks me dry. I go in to exchange ONE thing and literally walk out with $172.94 worth of stuff. WTH???

But I will think of you next time I'm there - and all the $$ you're saving by not having one close. Maybe it will discipline me to do better!
