Procrastinator? Yes, Yes I am...

Every year I vow to myself that I will not wait to complete all of my Christmas shopping.  Every year.

But guess what happens the next year.  You got it--I wait.

But I have two main reasons why I am how I am and do what I do.

Reason #1:  I get a thrill from the rush of things. From the "I hope this gets delivered in time!" to the "I can't believe how crowded and busy the mall/Target is!" I love it all.  Some people do drugs, some people smoke.  I choose to procrastinate.

Reason #2: I have also found out the hard way if I am even remotely close to claiming "I'm done!" I will start buying more.  It's a conspiracy I tell ya!  I start paying attention to toy ads or I see just one more little thing while I'm out.  And then the next time it's the exact same thing.  I can't help it--I love to shop and when you just tell me I'm done but all I see are shopping commercials and the coveted red Starbucks cup?  I just want to join the crowd and buy buy buy!

So, I ask you my lovely friends....how are you when it comes to shopping for the holidays?  Do you get it done early?  If so, how do you refrain from buying more?

That is a GREAT line. Ha!

I try and get it done as early as I can, but it never happens. This year, I am going to try really hard just because I want to enjoy all of things that aren't present related. But I am sure I will keep buying for L until the last minute - it's his first christmas afterall!! =)

Ummmmm I have not even started to think about Christmas presents!!! I probably won't until about 2 weeks before Christmas (If I'm lucky! HAHA)

Ha ha, I'm just like you. I'm a total procrastinator! I swore I was going to have at least half of my shopping done by mid November...yeah right. I'll be that girl searching for gifts in the pile of reject toys come late December.

I wait as long as possible...otherwise I play the same game and keep on buying. Even though I HATE the crowds I just keep seeing things I like and can't resist!
Poppin' in from SITS, cute blog! :)

This year is really the first year that I started buying stuff early, but I'm still not finished. We're really only buying for our niece and nephew since it's going to cost so much for us to drive in, so they're our priority. *lol* Everyone else gets us for Christmas - suprise!

I started hitting up outlets for clothes for them (we have a Bealls Outlet here that I could so get in trouble in!), clearance section at Border's or BAM for books, stuff like that - yep, I'm that aunt, the one who prefers to give them books instead of toys. *lol*

I've been doing the same thing though, when I got that Target toy paper in, I was itching to go out and buy something, so I know that if we'd finished, I'd still be finding a way to go get something else.

I try really hard to stick to a list, and I do the bulk of my shopping on Black Friday. But I'm with you on both of those! I love everything about the stores during the holiday season; it's a kind of rush! And if I don't do a list I'd keep shopping, lol. I've made a list of what I'm buying my son, but haven't even looked at any other family members yet, haha.

I hate to wait until the last minute but I do find myself buying more for people or adding new people to my list if I get done to early. This year I am going to try my hardest not to go overboard. We have a budget for Christmas gifts and I am going to try really, extra, super hard to stay within it.

I haven't even thought about it. I'm bad, bad, bad about it. But, I do tend to get really good deals for waiting so long!

I shop early.. our money is tight so it helps spread things out for us. This is also how it helps me to stop buying :-P. The only hard part about buying something early is that I want to give it right away.. I totally had a peppermint mocha latte today :-)

I used to get caught up in the early shopping and then I would buy and buy and buy all the way to Christmas. Now I shop early but then I'm done!

Chelle, welcome to SITS! I'm the same way with holiday shopping and i think you're on to something with what you said about actually enjoying the thrill, the rush, the challenge and even the stress. That must be it, because despite my best intentions, every year I procrastinate till the last minute!

i've been getting better about it, but my mom is a pro! if she sees something she thinks someone will like in august, she gets it and saves it! (of course she has to hide stuff and sometimes she forgets about stuff or loses it, but only once or twice a year :)

At least you know yourself and you can deal. I am an early shopper because I get really stressed as the holidays get closer.

I am a DEFINITE procrastinator!! I did manage to get the "BIG" gift, because it was on sale and I knew if I waited too long, I wouldn't be able to find it! I LOVE shopping on Black Friday...my FAVORITE rush, I don't even mind getting up early or the traffic or crowds...all I think about is "I got ALL of THIS for $100!!! YAY!!!" :D I'll be watching those ads too...let me know if you see anything GOOD!!
